ENROLLMENT CLOSES TUESDAY, OCTOBER 31

“Whether it is a question of my body, the natural world, the past, birth or death, the question is always to know how I can be open to phenomena that transcend me and that, nevertheless, only exist to the extent that I take them up and live them.”

—Maurice Merleau-Ponty

In PHENOMENOLOGY OF PERCEPTION we will read Maurice Merleau-Ponty’s 1945 classic Phenomenology of Perception  together over the course of 12 weeks to help us think through questions of embodiment, perception, "being-for-itself" and "being-in-the-world."

This is a class in the series Philosophy for Poets (although you need not identify as either). We'll be engaging with the text but also taking cues from it for our creative work (of which perception is ground).

Each meeting will have an hour dedicated to discussion of the text (and where it leads), and an hour of writing and sharing work.

Meetings will take place on zoom Thursdays, from 7-9pm ET on Zoom.
